PLEASE HELP BRYAN

My long time friend of over 20 + years, Bryan Wrubel, is in dire need of our help!

Bryan is a 55 year old South Florida native and long time Boca Raton resident, who spent the last 30 + years as a beloved Elementary School Educator. He taught 27 years at Del Prada Elementary School, a great amount of those years dedicated to helping young children with autism, disabilities, and special needs. He also spent many years as a dedicated and beloved 2nd and 5th grade teacher. Bryan was also a summer camp counselor for over 12 years at Saint Andrews Summer Camp .

Bryan has been a diabetic since the early age of 4 and was also diagnosed with a rare primary immune disorder called Antibody Deficiency Syndrome for which he must travel to Miramar every week for IV Infusions for the last 28 years. He has braved this silently, always smiling and asking how he can help others. In addition, Bryan has developed Neuropathy both in his hands and legs which has gotten progressively worse each year, but despite these hardships and impediments, Bryan has always been a happy, helpful, and active member of the Boca Raton. Community, even working part time at night for Papa Johns, delivering Pizza in addition to his teaching job, in order to make ends meet.

Bryan’s life took a major downturn in March of 2021 only days after taking the COVID Vaccine. After 3 days, his toes turned black and as a result he had to have 2 toes amputated. Within only months he developed a condition called CHARCOT ARTHROPATHY which deteriorated the bones in his foot, causing him a long 38 day hospital stay and 4 surgeries within the last year. Unfortunately, the desperate attempts to save his leg finally failed, and Bryan is now in the hospital recovering from having his leg amputated.

Bryan is in a grave condition as he is not only trying to deal with his physical condition and the mental trauma of losing a limb, but he has used up all of his sick days, he has neither a source of income nor any assets, has enormous upcoming bills for his medical recovery and the major costs of rehab and prosthetics not fully covered by insurance, insurance premiums he cannot pay, and several past due bills, due to the inability to work his second job during the last year of his illness.

We have set up this page in order to help him in any way possible with his short and long term goals of recovery and being able to walk and live a normal life again. We are taking it one day at a time and any and all help will be very much appreciated. Bryan is determined to work hard and is focusing on walking again and returning to a normal life.
