Zach and Diana are cornerstones in their community. They are loving parents to seven children, four whom they are adopting from foster care. Zach is a beloved nurse practitioner and has served the community for over 10 years! Diana is now a stay-at-home parent after spending 12 years working with kids with special needs in a Tennessee school system and then here in Georgia with Babies Can't Wait. In 2015 Diana was diagnosed with erupted ductal carcinoma breast cancer. She went through her first round of chemotherapy that lasted a year. In the middle of this Diana recieved a bilateral mastectomy and DEIP reconstruction. In 2017 she went into remission, returned to work and the Poarches decided to become a foster family. They started this journey by taking in a sister and brother Diana had served in home through Babies Can't Wait. Diana injured her back after going back to work and it was fixed through spinal surgery. Days after being allowed out of bed, they were asked to take an 18 month old in a body cast and her three month old sister. They are now in the process of adopting all four children and Zach is adopting Diana's biological son. During this time, Diana also recieved several reconstructive surgeries. Within 6 months her cancer returned and she again started chemotherapy. Her tumor stopped responding and it continued to grow. Diana then recieved a lumpectomy which removed a large portion of the left side of her chest. She then had to start another chemotherapy. When that course was done, she began radiation. After radiation she continued with oral chemotherapy having completed that in March 2019 and is again in remission. That same month they also finally recieved a medical diagnosis for their soon-to-be adopted son. In April 2019 Zach was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. He is a lifelong pacemaker patient and wasn't too shocked by this. During an echo, the doctor found a large aortic aneurysm. They are now traveling back and forth to Emory preparing for Zach to recieve open heart surgery. Their medical debt has become increasingly hard to keep up with and they now need help. These two amazing people are pillars in their community and have continually done for others every step of the way. No matter how sick or stressed they were in their own lives they always have an open door and a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Let's help them out and take one stress out of their hands so they can focus on recovery.
