Help my family during war in Ukraine

Hi everyone. My name is Anna. I'm originally from Ukraine, Kharkiv but live and work in Canada for the last 3,5 years. I'm one of these lucky people who are currently abroad, but my family remains in Kharkiv, Ukraine. They are not safe and they are afraid.

 

It's a really scary situation in Kharkiv right now. Kharkiv is the second-largest city in Ukraine and is located close to the Russian border. Right now my city is getting bombed and people are shot on the streets. Schools, hospitals, apartment buildings, and regular houses are being bombed. A lot of civilians lost their homes or died. My family lost a really good friend of ours and we also knew 2 people, who recently were killed. The city centre is in ruins.

 

My dad and aunt are still in Kharkiv. We have a house with a basement, where they hide during bombings. My dad is taking care of 4 cats and 8 dogs (some of them were left there by our neighbours) and he also took 3 families into our house, as their houses are being bombed. He is also taking care of huge housing area to make sure that people who still live there have water supplies and light. He is also switching off all street lights to confuse Russian bombers.

 

My dad and aunt don't want to leave, as they would like to help others and don't want to leave all the pets behind.

 

My mom was abroad when it's all started. She was lucky to be at the place with no shootings and bombings around, but in another country with no family and no idea when she can go back home.

 

My parents sacrificed so much to give me a better life here in Canada and right now I want to give back and send them any help I can. I’m selling some of my stuff and sending my savings as well to them. They both lost their jobs.

 

I think financial support would be really helpful right now, as my family doesn’t have much savings, and also my dad helping others with accommodation and food for free. He is also buying food for all the pets and taking care of them. 

 

I want to send money to my mom, so she would be able to buy all the necessities she needs right now as well as food. Also, I want to send money to my dad, so he would be able to buy food for dogs and cats, as well as all people we are helping right now in our house.

 

If you want to contribute anything large or small to my family, it would be highly appreciated and really helpful.
