Early this past October, my close friend Jess was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that metastasized to her liver. Over these past five months, Jess’s doctors at Roger Williams Hospital successfully removed the tumors from her colon and have been administering bi-weekly chemotherapy treatments. As of now, her scans have shown no progression of the disease.

As you can imagine, Jess’s physical burden and complete shift of life has been incredibly overwhelming. She is surrounded by positivity, love and support by all her know her. Her close friends and family have been right by her side as she continues to fight, heal and rest. Jess is continuing to stay positive and optimistic in this journey.

Jess is looking forward to returning to work one day soon, but until then, her main priority is to remain independent and self-sufficient. As you can imagine, this diagnosis has been quite overwhelming and she has already begun to experience the financial impact of the diagnosis and the treatments required.
