Angels for Angela

The Russell family is loved by so many; a testament to their sense of community and generosity. I first met Angela last winter at our local library. All it took was a 30 minute preschool drop off program where we could complete our sentences to become fast friends. If you have had the good fortune of knowing Angela, you know the kind of easy and sincere friend she is. She is always up for a fun adventure and she is always there to lend a hand. She is a loving wife to Jordan, mother to three magnificent kids (Grant is almost 6, Lincoln is almost 4 and Kennedy is 19 months), daughter, sister and friend to so many.

Recently, Angela was diagnosed with HER2+ Breast Cancer, which is an aggressive form of cancer but responds favorably to treatment. Shortly, Angela will begin a clinical trial at Yale New Haven Hospital that will include several months of chemotherapy and surgery will follow.

While the Russell Family will be buoyed by all good vibes, thoughts and prayers, their reality is that this treatment plan will require Angela to be out of the house for several hours of the day, multiple times a month for several months and the effects of the treatment will likely leave her feeling ill for several days after. Currently, Angela serves as the primary caregiver for her three children, two who are not yet school age, she is also the domestic engineer for her family. She spends most of her days planning fun daytime activities for her littles under 5, managing the pickups and dropoffs for preschool and kindergarten, chauffering kids to playdates and activities, keeping house and feeding her family, all of which will now conflict with appointments, treatment and recovery.

Angela loves her town, she loves her children, she loves her husband and she loves her life.
