Hello, we are Johannes, Conrad, and George Brudi, Dan’s nephews. Our uncle was diagnosed with liver disease and more recently, colon cancer. After undergoing surgery to remove a part of his colon, he developed an infection. He’s now hospitalized with a second infection related to his colon resection. He needs to regain some of his health in order to begin his scheduled chemotherapy treatment.
His wife, Annelies, is his sole and primary caretaker. She is dedicating all of her time to maintain this role, including taking time off of work. The medical expenses and insurance premiums alone are very costly. We hope to be able to offer some support to Annelies so she can continue caring for Uncle Dan full time. They live over an hour away from the nearest hospital, and the added expenses of gas and nearby lodging are quite burdensome. Our goal is to raise some money to alleviate some of the financial burden that this causes.
Anyone who knows us knows the value we place on our Uncle. He’s been an important figure in our lives since childhood through adulthood. He taught us how to caulk and grout, frame basement walls, cook French cuisine, fish, garden, and be supportive family members. He’s always shown up for us, and a countless number of others. He was raised in Pinole, CA and continued on to do incredible things. Something many people don’t know is that he’s even made contributions to some of our music. One of the songs he wrote was included in our latest album, to which we’ve included a link below.
Uncle Dan is a brilliant carpenter, a gifted chef, and an outstanding teacher. Behind his stern brow and stoic demeanor ferments a whit and humor that still entertains us from his hospital bed: “I’d rather talk about hemorrhoids than politics”.
