Every little helps

Hello, I'm Maria, and I'd want to share a little bit of my background so that anyone who reads it can comprehend my biography. I have lived in the UK for the past 19 years, and ever since I got here, I have always worked. I have always checked to make sure I was following the law. Ensuring prompt tax payment and deduction. For the past nineteen years, I have never missed a day of work or called in sick in the UK. This proves my dedication and loyalty to every organisation I have worked for.
I started feeling ill this year in May 2024 when I was heading to work, so my good friend, who also owns the company where I work, decided to drive me to the hospital. I shall always be grateful. This was new to me as someone who had never experienced any illness and had always had routine checks. I initially believed that I would only need a quick checkup at the hospital—possibly for my blood pressure—but I was never prepared for what ultimately transpired.
I was waiting at the hospital with my oldest daughter at my side when I received the unexpected news that I needed urgent surgery on my bowel. I need a blood transfusion prior to the surgery because of the elevated level of infection in my blood. After being moved to a different hospital, I began to deteriorate to the point where my daughters were unsure if I would survive.
It was a whirlwind of emotions, as you might understand, and my family has never abandoned me. Following the operation, I was told that I had bowel cancer, stomach cancer, and liver cancer. I was given a six-month survival estimate, and the length of my treatment could be extended to a year, depending on how quickly I recovered from the procedure and could begin treatment. At that precise moment, I weighed 37 kg versus 60 kg, and I was weak.
Just so you know, with my family at my side, I started gaining weight around the time the medical staff believed this was it. My desire to watch my grandchildren and great-grandchildren develop led me to start battling for both my family and me. Everyone around me, especially my daughters, have taken up my battle and are doing everything in their power to ensure that I live my best life while I still can.
Always believing in God - He is my saviour.
Let us get to the reason I created this page: Even though I will be 65 this year, I have made the decision to apply for early retirement, because of the situation. After numbers of tests, which I must perform every month or every other week, I received a complete diagnosis. reveals that 92% of my body is known to be contaminated, but my blood tests also revealed a decline in the body's cancer fluid, which is a strong sign that the disease is slowing down, and immune treatment is making a difference. Which to me it’s something to look as positive.
I've had time to ask the local government to try to prepare my pension, and there are numbers of reasons for this. Daily expenses for my well-being leaving to travel worry-free and having my savings topped up in case of my death. I had put all my money into my pension because I believed it was worthwhile. I am forward to the future, yet I am disappointed because I was informed that I cannot look for early retirement under any conditions. I can only access this when I'm 67 and eight months old, despite the fact that I top it up more each year.
I was granted what I refer to as pocket money by the local government after I had to leave my flat because I couldn't afford to do so. I'm living with my daughter. Since I don't have a husband or children under my care, I was told that even if I die, the money will remain with the government. I'm grateful because every little bit helps, but this makes me feel really angry. This is really embarrassing for me because I always believed that what I was doing was correct.
The idea that I have worked so hard and added more for this to happen now makes me feel emotionally distressed. I get upset. This is obviously insufficient, and perhaps I was too naive when I should have been more cautious and sought advice on how to invest in my pension and what my rights were.
The aim for raising funds is to ensure that I can move to my home country. Without worries. Making the most of the limited time I have available.
I'm sure I'm not the only one going through to tough times. I shall be eternally grateful for your time, and your support and compassion.
Thank you
Maria Angelico
