Ritchies' Medical & House Fire

Cheryl and Ritchie Roman are the proud and loving parents of ten year old, Brooklynne, and a sweet Shih Tzu - Pekingese mix named Miley.
On Friday, May 29, 2015, their lives were irrevocably changed when Ritchie suffered a nearly fatal stroke caused by a brain hemorrhage; it happened exactly one week before his 41st birthday. After days in the Intensive Care Unit and several lifesaving surgeries, including a crainectomy, Ritchie was paralyzed on his entire left side and suffered other cognitive injuries. He later underwent crainioplasty to insert a titanium plate.
Before his traumatic brain injury, Ritchie worked for the MTA in New York. It was his dream job. However, since his injury, Ritchie has been unable to work. He is still living in a rehab facility where he is fighting everyday to become strong enough to go home to his family. Except now, Ritchie no longer has a home to go to.
On Wednesday, January 20, 2016, Ritchie, Cheryl and Brooklynne’s home, along with approximately ninety percent of their possessions, was destroyed by a fire that started in a neighbor’s house. In mere minutes, more than ten years of treasured memories were gone.
Despite suffering two devastating tragedies that have rocked their lives in the space of nine months, this brave young family has not stopped fighting to get back on their feet. But they can’t do it without your help.
They are grateful for the outpouring of love and kindness they have received from family, friends and coworkers but, with medical bills in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, limited income and now the loss of their home and possessions, they will need your support to help them recover from these crippling financial losses.
We have created this fund to help Cheryl, Ritchie and Brooklynne with expenses not covered by insurance while they rebuild their lives from these tragedies. Your generosity and contributions will be received with the deepest of gratitude.
Thank you and please keep Cheryl, Ritchie and Brooklynne in your thoughts and prayers.
