A medical fund for Zach Sementelli:
For the past several years you could find
Zach living in the seasons finest pow, riding straight into the river wave while helping
his dad sustain the family business, until it’s time to chase down the best break in
Southern California. Born and raised in
Virginia Beach, this boy could walk on
The active lifestyle that he knows and
loves was stolen from him on October 6th
during an ATV accident that caused a very serious injury to his thoracic spine. Zach
has suffered an incomplete spinal cord
injury of his T12 vertebrae, leaving him
paralyzed from the waist down.
In Zachs case this incomplete injury means he has minimal, infrequent sensation below his mid back, and high hopes of regenerating the nerves and tissues with stem cell
injections and other aggressive therapies
at an inpatient facility in Atlanta, GA. Zach and friends are hoping for tremendous
amounts of improvement with this amazing modality.
Alongside the stress of Zachs’ physical
and emotional obstacles comes a serious
financial burden. Unfortunately, health
insurance does not cover some very
essential medical expenses it takes to
recover from an injury like this.
Out of pocket costs consist of; medical
equipment, stem cell injections, an adapted vehicle, home modifications including shower adjustments, a standing frame to help
him maintain bone density at home along
with other rehab equipment, massage
therapy, travel costs and hotel stays for
Zach and family while he is at the facility in Georgia, along with other vigorous therapy.
From mental health, to bowel and bladder
function, Zach is facing the unfathomable.
He is a self sufficient, independent and
hard working Gypsy who does what he
wants with determination and courage.
With intensive therapy he has the ability to regain function below his injury and work
his way back to his active daily life.
We are asking you to please keep our
friend Zach in your heart and thoughts
through this time. Any funding is greatly
appreciated and will be the most effective way to help the Sementelli family through
this challenging time. Zach and his family
are beyond grateful for your support.
