Hello everyone, I'm Madeline Longenbarger.  I am blessed and honored to say that I have been chosen as part of the 2016 50th Anniversary Blue Lake International Exchange Choir. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN... I will be able to travel EUROPE doing something I LOVE- singing. I will be able to study and learn from TOP VOCAL INSTRUCTORS and make friends and memories of a lifetime!

During this past summer, I spent 12 days practicing, performing, auditioning and learning at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. It was a vocalist dream! I auditioned and was selected from more than 1,700 applicants to fill 300 available spots in the Blue Lake International Exchange Program. This will require multiple trips to Blue Lake (5 hours away) and a commitment from my family, too! I have all of that taken care of! My family is ready to do their part and now I am fundraising to help do my part.

I am passionate about my gift and currently sing  with the Agora Chorale through Monroe County Community College under the direction of Ms. Cathy Brodie. I perform in special choir groups with Monroe High School under the direction of Ms. Cate Windelborn. The past two years I have performed for the Monroe Middle School Choir under the direction of Mrs. Elise Dinwoody. I owe a special thanks to Ms. Dinwoody because she fostered and grew my love of music! I auditioned, made selection, performed for the past two years with the Michigan State Vocal Music Association SA and SSA State Honors Choir. I was selected to a full scholarship ($500 off!!!) to Blue Lake both years! I share this to show that I am committed to singing and your support will have a HUGE impact on my future.  

My long term plan is to use my musical skills to help children and families as a Child Life Specialist (undergraduate studies) and Music Therapist (graduate studies) who have a terminal diagnosis. Research states hearing is the last thing to go before death and families find music, maybe a lullaby, soothing during this time. I have a gift and hope to provide a gift.
