Hi my name is Anthony Dickinson, I am 37 and from Santa Barbara, CA. I like to fish, cook and go for walks outdoors in my beautiful little town.
Roughly three years ago I started having issues with my kidneys not working at 100%. I was hospitalized in February 2018 for excess fluids, during this time my doctor informed me that the blood pressure medication that I had been taking for several years, I was actually allergic to and that to replace it would be challenging but something that would be imperative to saving my kidneys. Needless to say the damage had all ready been done and my kidneys would only continue to decrease in function. Even though I worked on my health, the following year in April 2019 I ended up in the hospital needing Emergency Dialysis. My kidney function had dropped to only 8%. I was devastated to say the least not only did I loose the sight in one of my eyes as well as starting dialysis, I also had to put my career on hold, I am a cook working at Blue Water Grill Santa Barbara, where I had legitimate aspirations to become a chef. Instead now I am fighting for my life to say I was depressed is an understatement. Now a little more than a year later I have new hope, I have continued to work on my health and I can finally say I am feeling better. I have regained the vision in my eye, I have gotten my blood pressure and diabetes under control and after more than a year of Dialysis I am finally stable. I am currently listed on the transplant list at UCLA and now I am waiting for a kidney. I need to start saving for the surgery and medications needed, anything helps and will be greatly appreciated. The wait time for a kidney transplant on average is 6 to 10 years.
This money will help me and my family by providing some financial relief, a transplant cost any where from $100,000 to $400,000 including treatment, surgery and anti-rejection medication. Also after the surgery I will have to travel to see my transplant Dr.s at UCLA three times a week for up to 3 months this money will help with travel expenses. Now that I am currently on disability I have a extremely limited income and I am very nervous about my financial situation. Even with my very supportive family I need help paying for this surgery. Thank you for reading my story and thank you for any help you can offer even sharing my story and prayers are appreciated. I believe god has a plan for us all and we need to have faith that things will get better. Thank you all, Anthony.
