Get Connie Home

9 years ago, Thursday 2nd June 2011, Con went to work with my his son Mykie and since that day has never returned to his family home. He was involved in a life changing accident leaving him totally paralysed from his chest down - (T2 paraplegic). He was flew by West Midlands Air Ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth hospital where they all worked with such love and care and brought Con back to life 3 times.
He was in a coma for many months and was in the Q.E hospital for 6 months before being transferred to Stoke Mandeville Hospital. In this time vons family were liasing with Birmingham City Council in order to get his home adapted to get him back where he belonged, at home, with his 4 children. The council offered bare minimum. At first, a curtain to divide the living/diner, and a bed and shower room put in there and we're told he could eat off his lap. The family declined this and were offered absolutely nothing that would promote Con's independence, dignity and well being. Work was finally undertaken 13 months ago and all building work is now classed as complete, but have left an exposed door at the side of the property. I do not understand how a vulnerable man can be left with this access and how it can be deemed safe by the council?
Since this con was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital, this time positive for Covid-19, as he was struggling to breathe. With his health conditions it was not looking hopeful for him and his daughter had the dreaded DNAR conversation.. again! Connie being Connie, stubborn, did not let this virus get the better of him and fought relentlessly and turned a corner and overcome coronavirus.

Our aim now is to complete cons house and garden to the standard he deserves. We want to build a single story downstairs extension which will become a utility and storage room to store hoisting equipment and other household items to ensure he has maximum access to manoeuvre downstairs. We are looking to get the garden levelled and made into an area he can spend time in with friends and family being able to come and visit as it's not always possible to get him out to socialise due to access and transport.

It’s time to get him home one top fella who needs our help I am putting this out as one last time. Let’s do it for Connie!!!
I’m doing this of my own back and hopefully I don’t offend anyone but let’s get some money in to make this happen.
I will talk to the kids to make it happen if we all can put £10 or so each and raise a fund to achieve their goal forward what people think as will get it done,I am sure we can all get this to happen as I’ve been involved in this for a long time but got no where but truth is I would nothing better than have 2 of my favourite people to be coming back to where they belong wife and a top mate.
Once I see the response we will get it all done proper so let’s make it happen if you think I’m talking shite apologies but I’m sure all the great people con knows will give your support. Just to say I have took this on my self and of the cuff

Get Connie home once and for all!!!!
