This is super hard (if you know me) to reach out to community and ask for help. But here goes... many of you know I had stage 4 cancer 10 yrs ago. The little chemo I did take (before quitting) totally disintegrated all the cartilage in the large toe joint of my right foot. Needless to say, it hurts like hell when I do any activity, and I'm far from being a couch potatoe.
I have looked for years for a solution that would be good, and so far , all that was offered here in the US was fusing the bones together in my toe and putting screw and a metal plate.... sounds horrible! I'd never bend my toe again.
I finally found what I wanted. It's a man made cartilage replacment, and for what ever reason is only available in 2 countries, neither of which is here.
I have had a skype consult with the surgeon, talked to a past recipient and have decided it's my best shot at healing my foot so I can continue to be active and live without constant pain, and iburprofin. You know how much I love to dance, do yoga, hike... well, most of that time it hurts like a @$%^.
Here is a link to the site of the product. www.cartiva.net
http://www.claremont-hospital.co.uk/mr-christopher-blundell/ and the surgeon.
You can see the prices on that site so you know I'm not making up the cost. It's in pounds , but translates to 10,000 us dollars. + my plane fare!
I am extremely grateful for any donations you can spare, with all the amazing people I know I am sure it will be a huge help. My surgery is scheduled for March 14, and I"ll be gone a total of 2 weeks before I can travel. (doc's orders)
Please only send what you feel comfortable with, even if it's $5! Thanks so much, I can't wait to get this over and done, and enjoy life pain free!
Also, for any of you who need some graphics done and have contributions that can cover that, I am SO happy to do work for you for that donation. My website is www.workingart.biz if you want to see what I may do for you.
