HOMELESS TO PASTRY CHEF

Hello! My name is Olivia Thompson. I am a 2020 graduate from Cosby High School. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA.  I have been given the opportunity to attend The Culinary Insitute of America in New York.

I moved to the Midlothian area after being in a homeless shelter for 2 years. I cooked a lot for the families in the shelter.  Cooking was a way to bring everyone together.  It didn't matter our backgrounds. In that moment, we were family.  I realized that cooking and baking, was what I wanted to go to college for.

I attended the  Baking & Pastry Arts program my junior year at Cosby.  I finished my senior year in the Culinary program.  Unfortunately, my senior year was cut short due to COVID19. I am looking forward to going college, but this is where I need everyone's help.

My family has exhausted all resources to acquire student funding.  Unfortunately, due to homelessness, my mother had to file bankruptcy.  She is unable to cosign a student loan.  I'm trying to raise the remaining balance as soon as possible.

My dream is to one day, own my own bakery.  I would love to help the shelter and provide food for the homeless.  The opportunity to teach other homeless children the love of baking, would be my greatest creation.

Thank you for taking your time and all donations are appreciated.

With love and many thanks,

Olivia
