My name is Akiyah M. and I’m a working adult who was recently accepted into a hospital-based Nursing Program. This opportunity is truly a dream come true—and came at the very last minute.

For months, I was on the waitlist, unsure if I’d be selected. Because of that uncertainty, I wasn’t able to prepare financially in the way I had hoped. I applied for aid and only received $1000 from DOE. I was just informed that a spot has opened up for me, and while I’m incredibly grateful and excited to begin this next chapter, but the short notice has left me unprepared for the upfront costs of tuition, uniforms, supplies, and textbooks.
