Helping heads
Hello there!
I AM SHAVING MY HEAD FOR SAMARITANS!!
I chose Samaritans because they do amazing work for people in need of help. Due to Coronavirus, Samaritans are unable to offer their face to face service.
100% of your donations will go to the Samaritan organisation.
My name is Eimear Glynn and I am 21 years old.
I like to call myself an advocate for mental health. I try to disseminate a message of hope and support every day, in any way that I can. I use social media outlets to get the message out that you are not alone and that there is hope.
The Corona Virus has confined us to our homes in self isolation. Although this is essential for our health and the health of our loved ones, it is easy to get bogged down in all of it. Help for people struggling mentally may seem out of reach, but it is not. There are organisations out there, that offer phone and email services that can be contacted. One of these organisations is Samaritans, who say, 'you don’t have to feel suicidal to get in touch'.
To raise the much needed funds for this wonderful organisation, I will be doing what many people have done before this and will continue to do after. I am going to shave my head :)
Mental health issues are not very visible in the physical sense so why not draw some attention to the matter with a big bald head!
About Samaritans:
Under the 'What we do' section on the Samaritans page reads the
following:
"Every six seconds, Samaritans answer a call for help.
We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.
Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, we’re taking action to prevent the crisis.
We give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And we encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.
We offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need.
In prisons, schools, hospitals and on the rail network, Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time and training others to do the same.
Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide. That’s why we work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority."
