I've been helped here on GoFundMe before. House burglarized. Job offer unexpectedly rescinded. House foreclosed on. Definitely not the biblical trials of Job. Like 'The Dude' I abide. But it'd be nice to catch my breath before Murphy decides to pass another law.

Life, however, gets a kick out of the sound of WHAMMO!

So I'm asking the universe big this time out. No expectations but gratitude is already locked and loaded. Insurance has totaled out the car but I live in Detroit where auto insurance is criminally high. Like $6000 a year high. No exaggeration. And also no surprise that so many people ride without insurance.

My little Ford Focus was nothing special but it got me where I needed to go...till that other car decided to play bumper cars with it, totally forgetting that neither participating vehicle had rubber rings around them. My insurance company totaled out my car. Of an $8000 insurance settlement here's how the math trickles toward me:
1) I recently paid $3000 for 6 months of coverage;
2) I have to pay out a $2000 deductible on this claim for auto and medical--meaning my 2015 Focus is totaling out at $3000...the amount I'll have to pay the insurance company in a few months for the next 6 months of coverage.

So I'm hoping people can help me get some wheels and catch my breath before the next round with craggy Mr. Murphy. Nothing fancy, just something I can haul books to for writing conventions, maybe the occasional ride to see faraway friends, with a little money and gas left over to replace some broken Prince CDs.
