Furthering My Education At Howard University

I will be a freshman at Howard University this fall on the pre-med track. Howard University has always been my dream school but unfortunately, I was not offered enough in scholarships to make attending this school affordable for my family. This next step is the first of many on my journey to becoming a medical geneticist to research genetically inherited mental disorders.  This money will go towards my tuition and other school expenses to help me further my education. I have observed the impact that mental health issues have on individuals, families, communities and the effects of poorly allocated knowledge and resources surrounding the topic. In many communities, there are prevalent stigmas surrounding the topic of mental health that causes a reluctance for psychological openness preventing many people from seeking help. Within all facets of my life, I strive to help everyone to the best of my ability, so I want to selflessly dedicate my life’s work to the scientific research of such a detrimental epidemic that is so poorly acknowledged. Through my undergraduate education and further developed during medical school, my research can lead to great discoveries. Please share this campaign.
