A Furry Friend For Andrew

Andrew has a rare brain disease called moyamoya he is one of 6 people in Ireland who have it and the only one in Limerick. Andrew has suffered multiple Strokes starting when he was 20 months old. We had a lengthy stay in Temple Street hospital in 2015 , while Andrew was staying in temple street in rehabilitation from having a stroke on the left side of his body he  had another stroke on right side. About 6/8 weeks later he had another stroke and we were in an ambulance on the way back up to temple street again.

At this time Andrews specialist doctors in Great Ormond got back to us, they had said that Andrew would be a good candidate for EDMAS and EDAS nerosurgeries to help the blood flow to Andrews brain increase.  The surgeries were successful and Andrew hasn't had any major strokes since having them them. His last stoke was in October 2015.

The surgeries saved his life and he is now striving and thriving and stronger than ever. Moyamoya is a progressive disease so Andrew will be closely medically monitored for the rest of his life. Needing MRIa MRIAs angiograms and perhaps further surgery in the future. Andrew is also fed via a Mic-c button as the Strokes affected his swallow. Andrew is mobile he never really stops moving He gets tired quite quickly due to having the strokes so he uses a wheelchair too.

Andrew also has autism and will benefit greatly from having a service dog as well as all the great benefits that having a service dog does for a trailer adults and childern with autism it will also be very beneficial for Andrews moyamoya. With moyamoya high blood pressure can be quite dangerous as there is high risk for a stroke. A service dog will be able to help keep Andrew calm and his blood pressure low during times when he becomes agitated and stressed.

Andrews is a Unstoppable  little boy l. As all my friends and family know that ever since he was born he never stops smiling he is the happiest person that I have ever met, through everything that has he had gone through he has never had a bad day and is always happy and having fun and laughing he is very funny and has a great sense of humour. 

he is a very resilient little boy I watched Andrew learn to walk four times in one year you will absolutely love to have his own dog, that will be dedicated to him and be his companion.
