Furnish new home for Tad and Iwona

Tad and Iwona, or Babcja and Dzja Dzja to our little family, lost their dream when their cherished house in the sweet community of Louisville burned down in the Marshall fire this week. We are reeling. Our family is oscillating between shock that this could happen, grief over what has been lost, and gratitude for what we do have; our lives, our health and a future. As their family, Marcin (son) and Emily, are trying to help in every we can.

 

 

 

We are focused on getting Tad and Iwona established in a new house as soon as possible. To rebuild could take years so we are not looking for a temporary solution, but we want to create a space that they are comfortable in and can establish new roots. This fund is specifically to help them create a new life in a new space. They need furniture, they need basics, they need food, everything. With only a few minutes to evacuate, there was no time to collect anything beyond a few documents and a change of clothes. They do have insurance and are working through that process, but our hope is to relieve the immediate stress of replacing everything. We do not want them to worry about money right now, we want them to be focused on recovery.

 

Many people have asked how to help and offering this show of love from this fund will allow them to pick out the items they need to rebuild. If you have mementos (photos from travels for example or items from Poland) that you would like to share with them to help their new space feel like home please contact me directly and we can make this happen. Also if you have a different way to offer support please reach out. We can make sure a letter or card reaches them.

 

We can not make up for what they lost, but we are here for them and will help them rebuild in whatever way possible. Thank you so much for your generosity.

PS - They would never accept money directly from any of us.  Our hope is that they will not be able to refuse this generous gesture from all their loved ones. Accepting the charity of others is difficult for people who are much more accustomed to giving.
