At Early Start, our mission is rooted in the belief that all children deserve access to free, high-quality childcare in a safe and nurturing environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive. We are deeply committed to supporting families in the Boyle Heights community, particularly those with children from birth to five years old who are seeking employment, currently working, or experiencing homelessness. Our goal is to provide reliable care and meaningful early learning opportunities for every child we serve. We are dedicated to ensuring that our program directly supports families within our community, with 100% of 125 enrollment slots reserved for low-income families at no cost. Beyond access, we prioritize delivering high-quality care that fosters early development and builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

This initiative has been an ongoing project for nearly two years. During this time, we have worked diligently with the city to secure the necessary permits and approvals required to open our doors. While this journey has been incredibly rewarding, it has also brought unexpected challenges, including unforeseen expenses and the ongoing responsibility of paying rent throughout the process. As a result, our available funds to fully prepare our classrooms have become extremely limited. We currently have nine classrooms that require essential furniture and materials to create a safe, functional, and welcoming learning environment for our children.

Behind every classroom is a child ready to learn, grow, and feel safe.
