furballs 2: revenge of the furball

Welcome to the continuing saga of Scardeycat & Fam!

When last you saw us, the Librarian Kittens had all been adopted out, and our intrepid feral Scardeycat's litter from October consisted of two fluffy jellybeans: Shadow and Ghost. Alas, Ghost disappeared in January 2018, but Shadow continued to live in my back garden with her mum, being fed, watered, and sheltered by me in water-resistant heated cat shelters.

When Scardeycat went into heat in January, I was given an ultimatum by my neighbour: trap the cats or bring the cats inside, or he would call Animal Control to remove them, which would have put Scardeycat and Shadow at risk of being destroyed. So Shadow was kidnapped, and the attempts to TNR Scardeycat began in earnest!

Shadow (with your help) has been fixed/vaxxed/chipped, pronounced FIV and FeLV-free and is joining her sister Flynn as my second 'Foster Find' (I feel terrible calling them Foster Fails).

Last week, with dismay, I realised the reason I had not seen Scardeycat for several days was because she had given birth to a new litter of feral fuzzy jellybeans in the old-fashioned DIY cat shelter I had put out the year before.  I was concerned that if she moved the babiez, TNRing her and kittens would be difficult--especially if she reappeared with the kittens when they were weaned (which was how I met Shadow and Ghost as 8 week old people-shy ferals).

So as of April 3rd, Scardeycat and her litter of new-borns have been kidnapped and are currently in my building's utility room being fed, watered, and sheltered while the babies grow from 1 week old fluffy jellybeans into 4-6 week old adorable fluffballs who can be separated from their mother so Scardeycat can go under the knife and at long last have her 3-D kitten printer uninstalled!

The babies have been named The Punwhiskers: Acrocat, Bureaucat, Copycat, and Diplocat by my co-parenting BFF, who hopes that my abhorrence of terrible puns will prevent me from adopted YET MORE KITTENS. This is a desire echoed by my long-supperfing immediate family, who have taken to calling me a Crazy Cat lady.

(They're not wrong.)

The current plan is to foster the babies until they are socialised and ready for adoption! So for the next 6-8 weeks, that means getting Scardeycat & Fam into my guest bath (a safer, cleaner environment than the utility room), making sure family are happy and healthy, the kittens have plenty of toys, and are fed high-quality grain-free cat food, litter trained, and flea/mite/worm free.

That's where you come in! I am still unemployed (going on 11 months and change) and need all the help I can get, making sure I have food, corn-based litter, heated pet beds, clean pet pads, and a reserve for emergency vet bills and to get Scardeycat fixed/vaxxed/chipped/tipped in May so she can be returned to the back garden as a Colony Of One.

Any help you can provide would be AMAZING, and I will update as often as I can with how our feral mama and her fluffy jellybeans are doing.
