Hi, my name is Jose, and I am Ascension Rosales's son (everyone knows him as Chony).

My father dedicated his life to providing for our family through his work of landscaping in the KC metropolitan and suburban areas for many years. Everyone knew him as Chon or Chony, and he lived his life in dedication to our family. My father was a very kind man, involved in his church, and well-known in his community.

In June 2022 my father was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. At the time he had no sort of health care to provide for his medical treatment. We immediately applied for Insurance but took time to acquire it, When the insurance was approved he received treatment. He received multiple sessions of chemotherapy, Immunotherapy as well as radiation therapy at KU Medical Center.

Unfortunately, the disease- tumors spread quickly through his body to the point that no treatment helped him but weakened him, he could not move around on his own anymore. He was then referred to a hospice house which we as a family tried to avoid because we did not just want to give up on him but unfortunately, he was then moved there due to his condition.

My father never gave up and had faith that God would do his will with him. Due to the nature of his work (overconsumption of the chemicals and environmental conditions) that comes with landscaping work, we believe that is how the disease was started; he was not a smoker.

He passed away on 5/9/2023 at 12:30 am at the age of 58 in the hospice house of North Kansas City Hospital.

My father was in the process of applying for residency, and unfortunately, He did not have life insurance. Therefore, we are raising funds via crowdsourcing through GoFundMe to cover the costs of the funeral, burial, and anticipated medical bills.
