Funraising for Ski Program
Donation protected
Dear friends and family:
Hi. I'm Lulu and last winter, I had the chance to go to Powder Term, a 5 week ski program in Colorado. At Powder Term, we went skiing for about 4 hours in the morning, then worked on daily academics in the afternoon.
During my time there, I learned lots of new things. I learned not just about having routines, but about avalanche safety. About getting along with new people, and about snow science.
Being at Powder Term really changed my perspective on life. Before I went, I would look at a challenge and say something like, "this is impossible" or "too hard". After my time there, I came back saying "that's a challenge that I know I can overcome if I put my mind to it." In addition, Powder Term also greatly increased my confidence.
At the beginning of the term, I could barely get down a green ski run, but by the end, I had been on a handful of double black runs. Through that, I learned that no matter how difficult something is, if I practice and try my best, I can improve tremendously. Also, skiing is a sport that, sadly, I don't get to take part in here at home, but still hold very dear.
Being at Powder Term again would allow me to do my favorite thing, skiing, while improving my ability to do so. I believe that if I were to go to again, I would not only become an even better skier and teammate, but I would have more life changing knowledge and experiences that would impact the rest of my life.
The total cost of Powder Term this year, including the equipment needed, is around $13,000. My goal is to fundraise enough to be able to go again.
During my time there, I will keep a journal and reflect daily on what I have learned. If you are able to donate, I will provide you with a copy.
Thank you,
Lulu
