Funny Monk Needs Your Help to Stay Afloat

What's up everyone! Alex here from the Funny Monk Emporium. We were established in 2011 as a novelty gift shop, with a focus on local artisan products, including functional glass art and other smoking accessories. We've proudly served thousands of local customers over the years, supported tons of local artists and other American companies in this industry, and hope to continue doing so for years to come. We've truly grown so much as a business thanks to all of you.

In June of 2025, we've run into a major hurdle; the city of Philadelphia created a new zoning use specifically related to glass and smoking accessories, and we need to re-apply under these new conditions to continue doing business. We do not have to close our doors, but need to rotate out a significant portion of our inventory while we go through this new application process. It's a long and drawn-out ordeal; we are looking at about 9 months by the most optimistic estimates, without a guaranteed result we will get what we want after all the time, money, and effort. We are anticipating a major hit to our revenue while we weather the storm.

It wasn't easy to make this decision, to directly ask for financial support like this. The outreach from you guys has been overwhelming and encouraging, it's really done so much just to keep me going and wanting to really put up a fight to keep what we've built.
