Our precious sister Tiffany Jimenez passed away unexpectedly alone in her home in Denver, CO a few days ago at the age of 32. She leaves behind her young son, a loving family, and her two dogs.

 

She recently reconnected with the whole family after being isolated for a few years. We all got to reunite in Las Vegas for our cousin’s wedding. She mended her relationships with every single family member, and just recently, her son, whom she struggled to care for on her own, was transferred out of foster care and put in the custody of my mother and grandmother.

 

She was a loved mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin, niece, and friend.

She had recently begun working for a battered women’s shelter doing night security. She was beaming as she told me how proud she was to be able to care for women in need and help them through their darkest times.

I can’t even believe I am speaking about her in the past tense. It does not feel real that she is gone from us.

My mother cares and supports for Tiffany's 10 year old son Cylis, my other three nephews, and my grandmother all off of social security and a small pension.  
 
We have so many things to pay for:
- Body transportation across state lines
- body retrieval from the airport and transport to funeral home 
- travel 
- transporting her two dogs
- funeral and burial expenses
- memorial expenses
- childcare costs 
- a school fund for her son Cylis to attend school at LMCA with his two cousins 

None of this is within the budget and it all feels insurmountable. 
 
We humbly reach out to our communities to ask for financial assistance as we do our best to bring her body home, bury her, and celebrate her life.
 

I am deeply thankful that when she passed, she had fully opened up her heart to her family again and was working hard and going to therapy to be able to one day care for her son again.

 

She was so deeply loved by all of us. She had many struggles in life, emotional and mental difficulties she faced every day. She never lost her light and beauty, her deep affection, sweetness, tenderness, and care for those she loved. She maintained her passion for life and was striving toward being reunited with her son.

 

The last time I saw her, she was in bed, and I was leaving back to Hawaii on a flight. I got on the bed and hugged her so tight and said I loved her, and she said she loved

me. And that was goodbye.

 

Our family is overwhelmed. This is a shock to us all.

 

We know the world is overwhelmed with heartache and need. There are always people desperate for support. We are, at this time, part of that community, in need of helping hands.

All the proceeds of this fundraiser will be going directly to mine and Tiffany's mother, Brigida Cockrell, who is making funeral arrangements and now caring for Tiffany's son Cylis full time. Any thing above our goal will be set aside for her son Cylis.
