Funeral Fund For edward Horowitz
Edward Horowitz, a well respected criminal defense attorney and man of the jewish community, abruptly passed away on March 10, 2016 of a hemorrhagic stroke. He is survived by his 90 year-old father, 29 year-old paraplegic daughter and 21 year-old niece.
Without Edward in the household it suffers not only monetarily but emotionally as well. He was the rock that kept the family grounded and with the money he was able to pitch in every month we as a family, even after the unexpected death of his wife only a year earlier, we were able to continue to have a decently comfortable life. Unfortunately, due to the death of his wife we had to use all of the rainy day funds in our grandfather’s savings account to pay for her funeral. Now we don't have any money to cover my Uncle's funeral expenses and we have no time to save up before he is to be buried.
We as a family are not rich, in fact we are lower middle class at best and live paycheck to paycheck. So now we are reaching out hoping that you kind people out there will be able to find it in your heart to help send my uncle off in the way that he deserves.
According to Jewish law - he must leave the earth as humbly as he came into it. He must be purified, dressed in a modest fashion and his body placed into a plain pine box marked with the star of David. Where he is buried is also of extreme importance because he must be laid to rest with the other members of his tribe (he must be buried in a Jewish cemetery.)
Our body's a temple given to us by God, therefore we must leave with our body intact as God made us. Meaning we are not allowed to embalm, cremate or donate blood/organs if we wish to make it to heaven. This is what my uncle HIGHLY believed in. He shared even up to the day of his stroke, that he never wished to be cremated, but buried in a traditionally Jewish fashion and cemetery.
Let’s help him make his last wish a reality.
