In January 2025, our beloved mom, Odalis Toledo Perez, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. On January 19th, she underwent surgery, and afterward she seemed to recover well—she was strong, healthy, and full of life.

Odalis was an active, hardworking, and compassionate woman with a spirit of service and love for everyone around her. She dedicated her life to her family, her work, and to helping others.

Everything changed in July of this year when she developed a persistent dry cough that wouldn’t go away. After three hospitalizations, we received the devastating news that the cancer had spread to her lungs. In just a matter of days, her health declined rapidly. She struggled to walk, breathe, and eventually became unable to care for herself.

She went through chemotherapy, but the treatments were very hard on her body. The first round caused her to suffer a heart attack, and the second round had no effect against the cancer. Despite her strength and will to fight, the disease advanced quickly.

Her last hospitalization was from August 4th to August 23rd, when Odalis Toledo Perez went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. During those days in the hospital, she endured tremendous suffering—low oxygen, inability to eat, severe weight loss, back and chest pain, and a constant, painful cough.

At the time of her diagnosis, Odalis was still working, but she had to stop due to treatment and health issues. My father also left work to be by her side and care for her since January, which placed a heavy financial strain on our family.

Now, as we face the heartbreaking reality of planning her funeral, we are asking for your support. Any contribution—big or small—will help us give Odalis Toledo Perez the honorable farewell she deserves and relieve the financial burden on our family during this very difficult time.

En enero de 2025, nuestra amada madre, Odalis Toledo Pérez, fue diagnosticada con una forma agresiva de cáncer. El 19 de enero se sometió a una cirugía y, después de eso, parecía recuperarse bien: estaba fuerte, saludable y llena de vida.

Odalis fue una mujer activa, trabajadora y compasiva, con un espíritu de servicio y amor hacia todos los que la rodeaban. Dedicó su vida a su familia, a su trabajo y a ayudar a los demás.

Todo cambió en julio de este año, cuando comenzó con una tos seca persistente que no desaparecía. Después de tres hospitalizaciones, recibimos la devastadora noticia de que el cáncer se había extendido a sus pulmones. En cuestión de días, su salud se deterioró rápidamente. Le costaba caminar, respirar y eventualmente ya no podía valerse por sí misma.

Se sometió a quimioterapia, pero los tratamientos fueron muy duros para su cuerpo. La primera quimioterapia le provocó un infarto, y la segunda no tuvo ningún efecto contra el cáncer. A pesar de su fortaleza y sus ganas de luchar, la enfermedad avanzó con rapidez.

Su última hospitalización fue del 4 al 23 de agosto, día en que Odalis Toledo Pérez partió para estar con nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Durante esos días en el hospital, sufrió mucho: bajos niveles de oxígeno, no podía comer, perdió mucho peso, tenía fuertes dolores en la espalda y el pecho, y una tos constante y dolorosa.

Al momento de su diagnóstico, Odalis aún trabajaba, pero tuvo que dejar de hacerlo debido al tratamiento y a su condición de salud. Mi padre también dejó de trabajar desde enero para estar a su lado y cuidarla, lo cual puso una gran carga financiera sobre nuestra familia.

Ahora, mientras enfrentamos la dura realidad de planear su funeral, pedimos su apoyo. Cualquier contribución —grande o pequeña— nos ayudará a darle a Odalis Toledo Pérez la despedida honorable que merece y aliviará la carga económica de nuestra familia en este tiempo tan difícil.
