Hello, my name is Lia. I’m Torey’s oldest daughter. Last year, I graduated high school, full of hopes and plans for the future. I never imagined I’d be here, writing something like this so soon.

Just recently, while I was attending a trip with my teen mom religious group — a space that has given me support and peace during these hard times — I got the phone call that changed everything. My dad had passed away suddenly. I can still remember the feeling. It was like the world stopped. I couldn’t breathe. I felt everything and nothing at the same time.

My dad meant everything to me. He wasn’t perfect, but he was ours. He was strong, funny, protective, and he loved us — me, my brother, and my sister — with everything he had. We’re all devastated. It doesn’t feel real. It’s too soon. We weren’t ready. I don’t think we ever could’ve been.

Now, on top of our grief, we’re trying to give him the goodbye he deserves. But funerals are expensive, and we simply don’t have the means because we’re so young. Life just started for me and my siblings are underage. That’s why I’m reaching out — asking for any help, any support, anything that can ease this burden just a little. If you can give, thank you. If you can share, thank you. If you can keep us in your prayers, thank you. My dad deserves to be remembered with love and dignity. And we’re doing our best to make that happen.
