My sister Cathy was a vibrant, loving woman who touched so many lives with her faith, creativity, and kindness. Just a few weeks ago, she underwent shoulder replacement surgery and was working hard in physical therapy. Thursday started out like any other day, but it quickly turned into a nightmare none of us could have imagined. Cathy had a history of a brain tumor and lymphedema, but nothing prepared us for what happened. Unbeknownst to me, her legs had started retaining more water just days before, a sign of heart failure that went unnoticed. At her physical therapy appointment, her oxygen levels were low, and after receiving oxygen, she suddenly felt unable to walk. An ambulance was called, and on the way to the hospital, Cathy said she couldn’t breathe. She coded in the ambulance, and despite the heroic efforts of the EMTs and hospital staff, she passed away after a long and valiant fight.
Losing Cathy has been absolutely devastating. She was so full of life, always eager to help others, and her faith was a guiding light for everyone around her. Cathy loved to craft, and everything she made was a true work of art. She leaves behind her loving husband Rick, and a family who misses her deeply. We are now facing the difficult task of arranging her funeral, and unfortunately, Cathy did not have life insurance. I am prepared to do whatever it takes to give her the proper burial she deserves, but I am reaching out for help first.
If you knew and loved Cathy, or if her story touches your heart, please consider supporting us during this incredibly hard time. Your generosity will help us honor her memory and ease the financial burden on our family. Thank you for being a blessing to us.
