I am writing to you today to let you know about the loss of Stepan Chornobai, Halia Monastyrskyy's dad. He passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
Stepan and his wife Myroslava came to the USA from Ukraine to visit their daughter and her family in the end of the last year. They planned to spend the winter with their loved ones in sunny California and return to Ukraine in the beginning of spring. However the coronavirus situation disrupted their plans multiple times. First, their March flight was canceled, and then the re-booked July 16 flight was canceled either. Their next option was flight to Lviv through Istanbul next Wednesday, July 22. They had their tickets in hand and were awaiting for the next-week flight. Unfortunately, their plans were disrupted once again, this time tragically. Stepan felt weak a few days ago and suddenly passed away on the day he was supposed to be in the air on his way back to Ukraine, had their previous flight not been canceled. Stepan was 73. He is survived by his wife Myroslava, daughter Halia, son-in-law Bohdan, and grand-kids Maxim, Yulia and Iryna.
We are launching this fundraiser to provide assistance with funeral costs for the Monastyrskyy family. Please consider donating if you are able to do so. We are so very grateful for every donation during this difficult for their family time.
