Funeral Services for my mom Ruth Rivera

With a heavy heart I’m reaching out for help from family, friends, and the community.

My mother, Ruth Rivera, passed away early morning July 3, 2022, just after sunrise. She committed her life to raising her children, Ruben Rivera, and I. Even further, she played a large role as a grandmother in helping to raise her grandchildren, who meant the world to her.

She was married to her loving husband John Rivera for over 40 years. She was the most caring, giving, understanding and heart filled person you could ever meet. She was calm mannered, needed very little, and loved a lot.

On March 3, 2022, she was involved in a severe car collision. Despite her long list of injuries, she persisted and fought for her life. She gave us 4 more months (exactly) before succumbing to her injuries. This time was a blessing for my family and me. It gifted us some final moments to laugh, reminisce, cry, and say our goodbyes with her. She would eventually pass away peacefully in the comfort of her family, which has given us some closure.

The passing of a parent is a new experience for my brother and me. It has become very overwhelming and challenging for us during this time of mourning. The financial burden is amongst the most stressful.

It’s difficult for us to ask for help. However, this situation is much different. My mother taught us “to never be too proud to ask for help when you need it”. With respects to what she taught us, I am asking for help to facilitate a respectful send-off for our loving mother, Ruth Rivera.

Lastly, despite our request for financial support, we want to express our deepest gratitude for all forms of support we have received. We cannot begin to explain how helpful this has been while grieving.
