Linda Lee-Yaw passed away at the age of 55. She is survived by 4 sisters (Robin, Flora, Connie, and Diane), 3 children (Jasmine, Gerard, and Mathew) and 2 grand children (Lilliana and Ariana). Linda is the loving member of the family whom, no matter the situation, wants to always check in. She loved to chat on the phone with her family (especially) and friends meaning she always had the hot gossip. Linda showed her love by making sure
From Linda's son, Mathew:
Mom's passing was too soon. She was my emotional soundboard who motivated me to keep pushing forward and to never settle. When I came out, she showered me with love! She always had a vested interest in my life; whether it was work, family, even our dogs; though we know she loved Marius (the Italian Greyhound) the most.
In 2015, we lost my step-dad (father of Gerard and Jasmine) unexpectedly. Fast forward 2 years (so 4 years ago) we lost my sister, Lily, in a single fatal car accident leaving behind my nieces (Lilliana and Ariana). Our family has been riddled with death, but I hope we can still push forward in their name. Throughout these events, my mom appeared strong and almost unbothered. In hind sight, I don't believe she had been able to cope with the losses.
In the Fall of 2019, mom had a series of 4 heart attacks resulting in the hospital performing CPR causing her ribs to fracture and puncture her lungs. After a few months of recovery, she was able to breathe without a trach, but still required constant oxygen. She, eventually, moved into a Skilled Nursing Inpatient Facility where she was able to get quick medical support when needed and still be close to her family.
Fast forward again to about 2 weeks ago where mom was admitted to the hospital. She was being treated for a few things (non-COVID). She wasn’t doing too well, getting to the point where we had to decide if Comfort Care/Hospice was the right path. On Thursday, last week, we moved forward with Comfort Care as it appears she would not be responsive. This past Sunday she was moved back to her SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility). We were able to visit her throughout this process once she was placed on Comfort Care/Hospice.
While at her SNF, she became alert and was able to open her eyes and look around. She was able to shake her head and nod if you asked questions, but quickly tired. She was visited by my siblings and her sisters throughout the last week. She was reminded often that she was not alone and that all things will be taken care of.
Early on 9/28, I received the call no one can ever prep for; my mom passed away.
