We have all met challenging times throughout this pandemic. The losses we have all realized have been tragic. Our family is one of many that has faced unfortunate times. My husband Ernie Contreras fought for 19 days before passing due to the effects of Covid. He was 69 years old. He was a Navy veteran, but his true calling was as a nurse. He worked 48 years as a nurse, dedicated to helping his patients overcome illness and disease. His work reached far beyond his duties as a nurse. He loved his job and worked up until he couldn’t due to Covid symptoms.

Ernie was so much more than a nurse. He was a father, a husband, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle and a great friend to many. He made such a strong impact on people. He often offered hopeful advice always attempting to better someone’s life. He had a special devotion to all his loved ones. He was always willing to offer a helping hand to those in need and at times even provided financial help.

Ernie lived for his wife and for his daughters. We were his world. He kept in contact with so many friends and family, always checking in to see how everyone was doing. His playfulness and silliness made him a joy to have at a party or family gathering. He loved to cook. He always looked forward to putting a meal together for friends and family. He enjoyed his music collection oftentimes closing his eyes letting his music take him to a different place. Ernie left this world too soon. He leaves behind many broken hearts and tearful eyes. He will be missed very much.

We are now faced with the task of putting Ernie to peaceful rest, celebrating him and his life. We humbly appreciate any donations to help make this possible.
