To everyone that had ever been around Dru, you remembered it. Dru was always going to get a laugh out of those he was around even if you didn’t feel like smiling.
The perfect way to describe Dru was taken from a tribute by his little league baseball coach Cody Snider.
“ We can just look back on the times we had with him and laugh and cry. I knew Dru most all of his life and got to coach him in about every sport he was in since T-Ball. He was a good fun loving kid that was well kind of goofy at times. He always kept us laughing in the dugout. Sometimes I would say Dru get serious and he would look at me with a smirk and say “sure thing Coach”. Looking back he was all about having fun and that is how he played the game. Dru also never had all of his gear. He either forgot his hat, belt, glove, etc, but he knew one of us coaches (usually Johnny) brought extra. Dru played about every position on defense mostly catcher when he was little, but he was becoming a really good outfielder. He loved to hit though. He had a great swing and hit the ball well. He did have one issue though. He loved to swing at the high pitches. The ball could be 3 feet over his head and he would tomahawk swing at it. I would yell at him “Dru lay off the high ones” He would just smirk and say “Coach I can hit those.” Sometimes he did manage to hit one of those high ones and when he got to me down at 1st base he would say “see I told you I could hit it.” You couldn’t help but laugh. I loved that kid like he was one of my own. I sure hope there is baseball in heaven and Dru I hope your playing. I also hope every pitch you get is a high one. Finally, they say there is no crying in baseball. Well today there is. Fly High #18.”
On May 14th Dru Albersons young life was tragically taken from in a gun accident at the age of 14.
Dru loved hanging out with his friends, playing baseball, football and Basketball. He was always outdoors whenever possible riding four wheelers, hunting, and just being a boy.
All money raised will be given to his Grandparents and his Uncle Jamey Alberson to be used for his funeral and burial services.
Dru’s story doesn’t end here, he will continue to live and laugh on from his Heavenly home.
