Funeral services for Claire Bronwyn McKinnon

Donation protected
Here is the journey, from belly to Earth side, of my niece Claire Bronwyn Mckinnon, through the eyes of her Mummy, Natalie.

It is with a heavy heart that we are asking for some help to ease the pain and financial strain of preparing the funeral for our daughter Claire after loosing our sweet angel on the 20/10/2020.

Our story started off as a positive one. Myself and Holly were so excited to see Claire at the specialist appointment on the 19/10/2020. This would have been the first time in 32 weeks that Holly would have seen her baby sister in mummy's tummy because, up until now, she could only feel her. No one was expecting what was to come next.

I heard those 4 words no one wants to hear. "There is no HEARTBEAT" My daughter witnessed something she shouldn't have had to. I was rushed to get another scan to confirm what the specialist saw was right. To say I was praying the sonogram technician was wrong was an understatement. But it was confirmed. My baby girl had her angel wings. While waiting for the specialist to work out a plan of action, I made the hardest phone call I’ve ever made and called Alex to let him know the news that our sweet Claire Bronwyn had her angel wings. The specialist came back and had arranged for me to be inducted at 8am on the next day

20/10/2020 We arrive at the hospital at 8am and waited for a room to be available. We were taken to our room around 9:30am and we waited for the doctor to come and talk to us. The induction was started at 10:20am with gel. After only mild contractions an hour later, the Doctor said they would be back to access after 6 hours unless it progresses sooner. Not a lot happened after 6 hours past so they did another lot of gel around 5:30pm. Contractions started getting really intense and I asked for some pain meds. I was given some morphine which helped take the edge off. About 9pm I asked for more pain relief, they gave me Endone and about 10pm Contractions were in full swing. I also asked for the gas. About 40min later I felt Claire move into the birth canal.

Claire Bronwyn McKinnon was born sleeping at 10:48pm. Weighing 970g, length 38cm and head circumference 23cm. We held our baby angel for the first time and she was so beautiful. We took ever lasting memories.

21/10/2020 The next morning, Miss Holly came to meet her little sister. Holly is full of excitement to see Claire. Before leaving home, Holly put on her very best Wiggles dress and picked out a teddy bear bunny from home to give to her. That afternoon, Candice from Heartfelt came to take some precious pictures of Claire and our family.

How do you explain to a 2.5 year old that we can’t bring home her little sister? It ripped my heart out.

22/10/2020, Thursday night, I hadn't been feeling the best and passed a massive clot and was sent for an ultrasound the next morning. I was told I had some retained placenta and would need to go to theatre to have it removed. I have never had any type of surgery so this was very nerve wracking.

23/10/2020 When I was being taken down to theatre, the bed warden stopped at the nurses desk to wait for someone to walk with us. I heard one of the nurses say "why, she's not pregnant". These words ripped my heart out. After I came back in to my room from theatre, those words were all I could think about as I laid there looking at my sleeping angel.

24/10/2020 was the hardest day of our lives. This was the day we said goodbye to our beautiful sleeping angel daughter.

After recently speaking with the funeral director on what was needed for our babies funeral, we’ve realised how hard this is financially.

We thank you so much for any amount you can give, big or small, it all helps.

Lots of love, Nat, Alex and Holly
