Monday night what seemed to be a normal night to my father, turned out to be a nightmare for our family! My father was getting ready for the winter storm that we were expecting! He was just living a normal life on a Monday night, but as he laid down to rest he experienced what we call a brain bleed. I was in my room studying when I heard what sounded like a loud snore with mumbling! For some weird reason I instantly became nervous and made my mom go check on him! He had vomited all over himself and was not able to get up or respond he was just breathing very heavily. As the ambulance took him away at about 11:30pm , the word death did not cross mine or my mothers mind! As i continued studying, i received the worst phone call about an hour later, my mother desperately asking me to rush to the hospital and to call my sisters! I couldn’t process it and my mind was going crazy! And my sisters weren’t picking up my phonecalls! I finally got in touch with them and rushed to the hospital! The doctor showed us a comparison of the ct scan from two years ago and of that night, and let me just say that the doctor didn’t have to explain to us what was wrong! The hemorrhage was absolutely obvious and big! The doctor explained that the hemorrhage caught the part of the brain that makes you human; such as emotions, memories, speech, feelings just to name a few. What caused this? Weak vessels that many people have in different parts of the body, unfortunately he had them in his brain! He also had high blood pressure that he didn’t treat. They did a couple brain test on him to see if his brain functioned properly and both tests came in negative, so by 1:15pm on 2/12/19 he was pronounced dead!
They kept him alive because he is an organ donor and had healthy organs that had potential recievers. My dad will be saving three lives as his heart, lungs and kidneys are very healthy and there are three people who are preparing to receive them!
As of 4:30pm today 2/13/19 the doctors called us to go back to the hospital for updates! As the respitory therapist was doing his job he realized that he was taking a couple faint breaths on his own! So they paused the surgery and as of right now 6:22pm he is still alive but unfortunately he is not going to last much longer! My papi is strong and i know this caught him off guard! He was 55 years old with so much life and could have lived a much longer life! February 12th is his first granddaughters birthday, so this was a sign to us that he didn’t want to pass away, especially not on her birthday!
UPDATE: After another brain test, there is no blood flow found in his brain, FEBRUARY 14, 2019 we lost a beautiful soul ! We love you so much papi Vuela alto papi
