Hello family & friends. My beautiful mother, Verda Parks, passed away on April 17, 2021. We are so deeply saddened by the loss of a selfless, loving, beautiful, giving, caring mother like herself.

She went into the hospital around the beginning of March of 2021, with Covid and pneumonia. She wasn't allowed any visitors so my dad and brothers and I called and facetimed as much as we could but she was so sick and out of breath she didn't have much energy to talk to us. We thought her condition was getting better because she didn't have the Covid or pneumonia. Out of nowhere she was transferred to the ICU with a very serious infection in her lungs. She had pneumonia several times in the past and even in February of 2021, but her lungs began to get worse and worse. She also had serious preexisting conditions. In the ICU we were able to see her, but she was on a vent and sedated. On her last day her kidneys completely failed and her pulse and oxygen just kept dropping her body wasn't releasing any fluids. Her doctors and nurses did everything they could until she made her last breath.

My brothers, dad and I were there with her through it all and were able to say bye to her in person and give her one last kiss. This pain is so deep. Anyone who met my mom knows she was the nicest person in this world, she never had much and she still gave to everyone. She is the very definition of love.

I have never had to plan a funeral or anything before and I know my mom didn't want to burden us with funeral costs, but I feel she really deserves the best.
