Michael Valverde has touched the hearts of countless people during his 59 years of life. He passed away of a heart attack on Tuesday June 7, 2022. He leaves behind 5 amazing children who he raised with his best friend and life partner, his wife Karen Sue. We cannot forget the rest of his family; brothers, cousins, and especially his mother who is experiencing the unnatural phenomena of outliving a child. This fundraiser has been created on behalf of the Valverde’s so they may grieve in peace while the dust settles.
Words cannot describe the shockwave of grief from this sudden loss felt by family and the entire Extended Valverde Clan. The graduates who were lucky enough to be graced by the presence of the Valverde family are not the only ones fortunate enough to have crossed paths. Michael had family, friends, and associates encompassing the globe who are grieving along with us.The support he provided to countless students for nearly 20 years will never be forgotten. He fondly remembered all of our teenage shenanigans.
This fundraiser is being organized with heavy heart. We all know how resourceful Mike and K-Sue were, they always made sure those less fortunate were fed and had a safe place to go. They were our rides home, safe haven where the door was never locked, and second parents to support us through thick and thin. There is nothing to pay forward, as all their help was selfless and out of unconditional love. If able, this is a good time time for the rest of us to reflect the same love and support to help this family stabilize from such an unexpected and unfortunate event.
Whether it’s just sharing this Memorial Fundraiser post publicly every few days for all to see far and wide, or the ability to throw $5 in the hat to make up for all those free Hot N’ Ready Lil Cesar pizzas, every ounce of effort to aide the remaining Valverde members will do wonders.
The few loose ends they need tied together are for:
- the cost of cremation
- a large enough facility to celebrate his life
- travel costs to round up a few members of immediate family unable to afford airfare.
Lastly, this is to keep some heads above water while a few members utilize their respective bereavement periods to organize these end of life arrangements and to release his ashes in the ocean as a family.
The Memorial Service and Celebration of life will be held in Carlsbad as soon as possible. The goal is to raise enough money to gather all friends and family within the next two weeks. Depending on how quickly it takes to raise this money, the memorial may need to be pushed out to a month.
Please do not stress or feel guilt in being unable to donate monetarily. Sharing this post publicly a few times to spread the word as quickly as possible is just as helpful. Thank you all, and we can’t wait to see all of you at the celebration.
Mr. V would be proud of us all banding together and doing what we could during this time, Thank you all for your help.
