As some of you know, last fall Stacey was Diagnosed with ovarian cancer after what she thought would be a routine trip to the Emergency room. Surgery was scheduled for late October for the oncologist to go in and remove what she could and chemo would begin shortly after. In November, Stacey started having complications with fluid building up in her abdomen and infection that the doctors were trying to figure out how to treat. Stacey remained strong throughout the entire process and showed courage and strength that most of us only wish we had. Stacey spent weeks in and out of the hospital for complications and setbacks that would follow chemo treatments and she also had an umbilical hernia repaired in mid January. Recently, Stacey was informed by her doctors that her cancer was not hormone fueled (what they had originally thought) but it was in fact Chemo fueled. Basically, what this means is that instead of the chemotherapy destroying the cancer, it can backfire and cause healthy cells to fuel cancer growth. Stace was informed that the cancer had spread to her bones and spine and was given options on how to proceed. Stacey chose to stop chemo and manage her pain and discomfort. The plan was to move to a hospital where she could get a pain management plan while waiting to get a hospital bed at her house so she could go home and be with her family. This is when everything became a blurr. Within a 12 hr period Stacey went from being awake and alert and talking to family to being moved to hospice for palliative care.
Stacey Renee Fillers earned her beautiful angel wings in the early morning hours of February 14, 2022. She leaves behind a host of family and friends who loved her deeply. Most importantly, she leaves behind two daughters, Brianna 17, and Kamya 12. Stacey was a devoted mom to her girls and she loved them with every ounce of her being. Brianna is currently enrolled in the welding program at BT and Kamya is a 7th grader. This fundraiser is to help raise funds to give Stacey the beautiful home-going that she deserves and any and all extra funds will go towards her daughters.
