Funeral home costs for Laura Craig

Laura always had such a strong and beautiful spirit. She was a loving daughter and sister who always went above and beyond to make sure everyone was always happy. She had a lot of love for everyone and constantly put others before herself. She had an infectious laugh and always wanted to have a good time. Unfortunately, life had other plans for her. Her health started declining over time and the last few months were the worst for her.  She went into the hospital at the end of March and when she tried going home shortly after, things became worse and she had to be readmitted. She started doing better and was optimistic about her recovery, looking forward to beginning her treatment to be healthier. However, as quickly as she began to heal, she declined rapidly, losing her ability to breathe on her own. She was put on a ventilator with hopes that she could be weaned off and receive a trachea to assist with her breathing. She had retained a lot of water and was also maintaining high carbon dioxide in her body, which the hospital staff tried to reduce. While they have been able to decrease the amount of water retention, Laura has continued to need the ventilator at 100%, not able to breathe on her own. They are unable to place the trachea because she would be without oxygen for too long, which would cause irreparable brain damage, resulting in her being brain dead. Alternatively, if she continues to stay on the ventilator, she will also lose brain function and eventually become brain dead. The doctors and nurses have done all they can to help Laura recover but her lungs remain unable to work on their own and her brain is already shutting down resulting in a high fever that her brain cannot reduce. Following this, her organs will be the next to shut down until her body has completely given up. My family has had to make the heart wrenching decision to no longer continue life support as she wished for when she was still coherent. Following the disconnection of life support we will have to find a funeral home to pick her up and arrange for her to be cremated and placed in an urn. We will also have the cost of the service for her celebration of life. She unfortunately had no life insurance and my family does not have the funds to take care of this cost alone. Anything donated will be used to deal with all the costs of after life care. We would like to say thank you for all of the continued love and support. Laura will be missed by so many people and the outpouring of love and prayer has meant so much to her family during this time.
