It is with great sorrow that my mother, Peggy Barnett, passed after a nine-hour open-heart surgery that was expected to go well and took a severely unfortunate turn. I appreciate those who came to the hospital and have allowed me to stay with them to avoid my deep feelings of heartbreak.

I am her only child and currently in school while working full-time. My mother had very limited life insurance (about $3,000) available to me to pay for her funeral, etc. I have been blessed with someone who is willing to do the decorative flowers for the casket spray. I have never planned for a funeral before. I am unaware, at this point, of all costs related. All I know is that I do not have enough to cover the funeral expenses on my own.

I would appreciate any help or support from my friends and family. I am grateful for anyone who is willing to contribute any small amount they can. My mother was a kind, loving woman and my best friend. I would give anything to see and speak with her again. Hold your loved ones close and let them know how much you love them. You never know what could happen.
