Funeral Expenses for Wenda McCowan-Chaney
Donation protected
In fall of 2021, my grandmother was diagnosed with Corticobasal Degeneration Syndrome, a brain disease that caused movement, memory, and speech problems similar to Parkinson’s. After her diagnosis, the disease robbed her of her vitality and robbed my family of the vibrant woman we had always known. On Tuesday, November 26th, my grandmother passed away, leaving us completely heartbroken. While organizing funeral arrangements, my family is encountering unexpected financial struggles.
After working for the city of Philadelphia for 20 years and retiring in 2019, my grandmother’s finances were drained as medical expenses mounted over the years. Upon her passing, any remaining financial payouts have been granted to her estranged husband who is not contributing to funeral arrangements. As a family we are currently trying to coordinate how we will shoulder the expenses to give her the respectful farewell she deserves. We are also humbly seeking the support of our friends and family.
If you can, please consider donating to my grandmother’s funeral fund to help us honor her legacy with dignity and love. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help. Thank you for your kindness during this difficult time.
