Funeral Funds for Bertha

My name is Odette Ascencio, and I am fundraising for my mom, Bertha Boyer, and her funeral expenses.

Let me tell you a bit about my family and my amazing, strong mother. We are a family of six living here in the Coachella Valley, in Cathedral City. We've basically all grown up here all our lives. My parents, Bertha and Antonio, have been married for nineteen years. We are a close family who tries our best to be supportive, loving and encouraging of each other.

My mother has always been very hard working to provide for our family. With help from myself and my three brothers, my mom and dad paint houses across the Coachella Valley. We all do our very best. Hardworking and dedicated are a few ways to describe my mom. She is also our motivation and encouragement. She has coached our soccer teams for AYSO at Dennis Keat Park and has coached indoor soccer at the Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City. My mom believed that her faith carried her through any hardship. As a family, but especially my mom, we are very involved in St. Luis Catholic Church in Cathedral City. My mom has volunteered as a sacristan and a catechist teacher. She has taught us to give back however when we can, whenever we can. She is the definition of paying it forward through her involvement in the community, family, and friends

My mom became more anemic towards the middle of last year, July 2020. She felt pain and nausea constantly. She visited many doctors to try to find an answer to her discomfort. She was finally diagnosed with Uterine Cancer in January 2021. It has been a painful and challenging battle full of multiple doctors visits, medicine, needles, and procedures. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her illness and passed at the end of March 2022. She left peacefully, and we know that her suffering is over. She is in the hands of God. We will always love, cherish, and miss her smile and strength.

My mom believed and gave so much to her community through her love and care. We ask you to please help us fundraise to be able to provide her with the memorial she deserves.
