Many of you know my amazing father-in-law Tommy Rose. For those of you who may not, he is the most Godly, kind, loving, funny, G-Pa/Daddy/Dad I could ever think of or hope to have in my life.

In December of 2015, our family was devastated when he was diagnosed with liver cancer.

My husband and I had just bought our first house, were about to get married, and made the decision to move Tommy Sr. in to our in-law apartment. I was nervous about the decision at the time, since he was sick and we were a couple just starting out, but today I can tell you I am so glad we made that choice. I thank God every day that we have him in our home, to spend this time with him and help take care of him.

Seeing him cope and deal with this awful disease is nothing short of heartbreaking. His health declines a bit more every day. A huge comfort that I have during this time comes from the amazing children that have been by this great man’s side every step of the way; Tommy Jr., Nicole Elias, Stephanie Westphal, and Miranda Rose.

In Tommy Sr.’s final weeks (perhaps days..) to live, we have reached a very difficult time. The cost of a funeral and other arrangements is a burden that no family should have to face alone, especially for such a dearly loved family member, the rock on which this family has stood for so long. We have pursued avenues of Government aid, but unfortunately there is not a lot of help or assistance to be found. Tommy Sr.’s children would never think to ask for help, but I know it is in our family and friend’s hearts to rally around us during this time. That is what we do for one another, in times of need.
