Funeral Fund for Maria Teresa "Teri" Carrillo

As many of you may know, Maria Teresa "Teri" Carrillo (Muniz) tragically passed away from a short and devastating battle with Covid-19 on Sunday, December 5. Her sudden passing was even more shocking to her friends and family, as Teri had recently relocated to Tucson and was in the process of rebuilding her life after years of suffering from long-term health conditions, mental health struggles, and other debilitating traumas.

Anyone who knew Teri would remember her as a warm, cheerful, and loving person who loved making people laugh and treated everyone like family. Her passing is a tragic and shocking loss to all who loved her. All we can hope for is that she is now at peace in the company her beloved son, Harley who passed away in 1996 at the age of three. A part of her never recovered from that loss, and her pain was compounded by the tragic passing of her beloved grandson, Alan Perez in a yet unsolved hit-and-run homicide in May of this year.

Despite all her pain and suffering, Teri always had a smile on her face and a quick-witted comeback for anyone who tried it. Her sense of humor was wild and contagious. There was no bottom to the well of love and affection she openly gave, as there was no limit to the strength she somehow always managed to find. She loved working service jobs so she could socialize with anyone and everyone, and will be warmly remembered by her coworkers at the thrift store where she was working before she fell ill. Her favorite things included Winnie-the-Pooh, poinsettias, buffet restaurants, and gifting her loved ones with bootleg DVDs so she could share her love of movies. She especially loved listening to music, especially oldies, Spanish romantic ballads, Jon Secada, and Boyz II Men. Before she passed, she made sure to ask her son to engrave "Sad Girl" on her urn, in true Teresita fashion.

Please help us say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, tia, sister, and friend with a proper sendoff worthy of the amazing woman she was.
