My dad Elio Coluccio died recently.

He had several health issues and passed under the care of hospice.

My mom has been the sole caregiver and financial provider for both her and my dad for the last 28 years. She does not have the funds to pay for his funeral arrangements and had to put the cost of them on a credit card.

So she is experiencing not only the loss of spouse, but also the financial burden of funeral arrangements.

The funeral cost and related expenses are $15,000 .

It would be really great if I could ask our family, friends, neighbors and community to come together to make a donation so that when the dust settles from his death and the funeral bill comes, she can pay it off in total and not have added credit card debt.

Many of you know my lovely Mom and have witnessed her light, involvement in community, have been touched by her kindness over the years, and have enjoyed her friendship. She’s always the first person to lend a hand or answer the call to help out someone who needs it.

My mom wouldn’t want me to do a fundraiser mainly because of pride. And as such I haven’t yet shared with her that I have created it. However I know she will be so thankful to have received the funds.

While I understand pride, the need is real and I have decided to step in to ask our community to help her.

My Mom is grieving while also tending to the daily responsibilities of life, so please do not call on her phone at this time or send her text messages.

She would however appreciate your support in person at the funeral home and or the mass versus phone calls.
