Donation protected
We are so heartbroken that my dad (Tom)has passed away. He was only 57 years old when he passed away on February 18, 2021. Unfortunately he didn't have any life insurance policy and no savings or anything like that.
If you know my dad, you know that he liked to be the one to help people, he didn't like asking anyone for anything. He would give a stranger the shirt off his back (even if they didn't want it lol).
My parents (Tom and Kathy) lived paycheck to paycheck and literaly every dollar they got went to rent and bills. He was on disability and he had been for many years and my mom only gets social security.
Not only did Kathy just lose her husband, now she's stressed about how she's going to pay rent and bills because she can't afford it all on her own! So if we are able to raise any money above the funeral(cremation) cost, it would go towards Kathys rent, bills etc. That would definitely help take a little bit of stress away from her during this extremely difficult time!
We had no idea that a cremation/funeral was so expensive. The cheapest thing which is just a cremation with no viewing or anything like that is around $2,500. We would love to have a viewing/service but financially that isn't possible right now so we are trying to raise money for the cremation and the costs that go along with that. Also we plan to have a memorial for my dad once all this snow is gone and it gets a bit warmer! Any money raised over the cremation expenses will go towards a memorial for my dad sowe can all say good bye and give him the memorial he deserves. And than anything over that would go towards helping my mom (Kathy).
As I am sitting here writing this, my mom was heading to the Grocery store and as she pulled out of her parking spot, her steering went in the jeep. (The power steering belt snapped) so thats another thing she has to figure out how to pay for.
I don't think I'll ever understand why bad things happen to such good people, but I'm hoping that if we all come together we can show Kathy that she's not alone and we are here to help her the way she has always helped everyone else, and that we can give Tom the funeral he deserves!
