My name is Jennifer Ortega. I am one of the aunts of the beautiful girl in the pictures above.

With very extreme sadness, we announce Maddie Nichole Voelkel's passing. Maddie was a 17-year-old senior who attended Valley View schools most of her life but was a senior at Pilot Point at the time of her passing. Maddie ran cross country, played basketball, participated in band, did ballet and even spent one year as Iggy the Eagle! She loved to travel and was very artistic. Maddie had a great passion for animals and adored her family and friends. She enjoyed nature and going for walks just about anywhere. She could often be caught stealing someone's phone to bombard them with selfies. She was a typical teenager at home and loved to scroll through different social media sites. She was free-spirited yet strong-willed. You were lucky if you were her friend because you always knew she would do absolutely anything for you. To sum it up, Maddie was an incredible young lady in this world and will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

We are raising money to cover the funeral because she did not have life insurance, and her passing was completely unexpected. We are all devastated and would like to give her a proper burial. Any amount you may be able to give is greatly appreciated, along with your prayers.
