It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Letebrhan Woldu Abay. Her family and community have suffered a great loss. Letebrhan ultimately lost her life to medical conditions, complicated in her last days by a brain bleed.
Letebrhan was born in Guaralta, Tigray. She fled her war stricken country to Sudan as a teen and lived there as a refugee for many years. She was married to Gebru Hagos Alawi and had four children; Semere (Michael), Atakilti, and Yirgalem, and Fasil (who both passed as toddlers). She came to the United States in 1990 in search of a better life for her family and settled in Phoenix, Arizona before relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada in recent years. She dedicated her life to her family and her community. She was extremely hardworking and worked two full time jobs for 20 years. She was resilient and battled every obstacle head on, surviving a disastrous car accent in 2012 and beating cancer in 2019.
She was an integral member of her community and is known by all who came across her as a kind, hilarious, and caring woman who was always the life of the party.
Letebrhan is survived by her son Michael and son Atakilti, who lovingly cared for her through all of her health problems. She also leaves behind her God daughters Kibret Abraham and Senait Tewelde.
This GoFundMe was created with the hope of raising money to alleviate the financial burden as her family deals with this tremendous loss. Please contribute as you are able, to help cover funeral expenses. Lastly, please keep her family and friends in your prayers during this time filled with sorrow and grief. We are incredibly grateful for your support.
Thank you and God Bless
